ITEM: dmg'd steering rack, 120k
DESCRIPTION:
This steering rack was removed from a 1991 325ix Sedan with ~120k miles. The rack was painted black many years ago, so it was likely remanufactured in the past. The donor car could not be run or driven, so the function of the rack could not be tested. The tie rods are not included. The donor car had an engine fire, and it is likely the rack was exposed to significant heat, so the internal seals may need to be replaced. The rack gear has some very light surface rust on the left side. The rack moves smoothly from lock to lock with no binding. The housing has no cracks or serious oxidation damage. The hard hydraulic line has some rusting. Details can be viewed in the photos. This is a used original BMW part.
