ITEM: dmg'd cylinder head, 250k
CONDITION:
This cylinder head was taken from a running 1988 735i with ~250k miles. The camshaft and valve train parts are included. The bottom stud thread holes for the rear three exhaust ports are damaged. It looks like the original studs were bent/broken/seized and were difficult to remove. One of the studs is broken off inside the head, one of the studs is installed, but it is bent and the threads on the head side look funky, and the last one is just deformed. I would recommend filling these and re-tapping. The exhaust manifold was installed, but slots had to be cut out of the bottom holes on the manifold to make it fit. Most of the exhaust manifold studs are missing, so be prepared to replace them all. Otherwise, the block/head mating surface has no warp or cracks. The valves have some carbon staining, but no permanent damage. The cooling passages are clean and smooth. The camshaft has no serious wear. Details can be viewed in the photos.
